Softball Recap: Columbia Comes Up Short

Columbia came into this matchup off a tough 11-run defeat last Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Baldwin Indians by a score of 5-3 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Tigers have suffered since February 20th.

Harleigh Price was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Columbia saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josie Raulerson, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Columbia and nudges their season record down to 10-5. As for Baldwin, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.

Columbia will be playing at home against Keystone Heights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Columbia is facing Keystone Heights at the right time seeing as Keystone Heights is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Baldwin, they will head out on the road to face off against Baker County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
