Basketball Recap: Madison Finch's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Whitmer over Bedford

Whitmer was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. 2025 welcomed they with a 52-29 loss courtesy of the Bedford Kicking Mules. The Panthers were probably out for revenge after losing 55-27 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Whitmer lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Madison Finch, who posted eight points. Finch is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Kaylee Murnen was another key player, putting up five points and five rebounds.

Whitmer's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Bedford, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-1.

Whitmer wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 60-31 win against Southview on the 6th. As for Bedford, they will face off against Skyline at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
