Basketball Game Preview: Western Branch Bruins vs. King's Fork Bulldogs

Western Branch has won four straight games at home, while King's Fork has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Western Branch Bruins will host the King's Fork Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Western Branch is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Nansemond River just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Friday. They came up short against the Warriors, falling 59-33. While losing is never fun, the Bruins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 66th, while the Warriors are ranked ninth).

Meanwhile, King's Fork was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 58-52 to Norfolk Christian.

Western Branch's loss dropped their record down to 6-2. As for King's Fork, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-3.

Western Branch was dealt a bruising 59-29 loss at the hands of King's Fork in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Western Branch avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
