Softball Game Preview: DeSales Irish vs. Sunnyside Christian Knights

The DeSales Irish will face off against the Sunnyside Christian Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

DeSales came out on top against Asotin on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run second inning. The Irish blew past the Panthers 10-4. The win was nothing new for the Irish as they're now sitting on 13 straight.

Abi Guest made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, Theresa Holtzinger was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Roslyn Block, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

DeSales kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in ten consecutive games.

Meanwhile, while Sunnyside Christian put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Tri-Cities Prep. The Knights were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over the Jaguars. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.

DeSales' victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-1-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.4 runs over those games. As for Sunnyside Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.

DeSales took their win against Sunnyside Christian in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 25-8 score. Do the Irish have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
