Preview: Genesis Prep Academy Jaguars vs. Timberlake Tigers
Genesis Prep Academy is 2-7 against Timberlake since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Genesis Prep Academy Jaguars will be home for the holidays to greet the Timberlake Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Genesis Prep Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting St. Maries an easy 62-37 win. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Genesis Prep Academy in their matchups with St. Maries: they've now lost seven in a row.
Meanwhile, Timberlake pushed their score all the way to 56 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 72-56 bruising from Lakeland.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Tyler Engelson, who scored 28 points. He scored a full 50% of Timberlake's points, the ninth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jacob Yetter, who scored 12 points.
Genesis Prep Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Timberlake, they bumped their record down to 3-6 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Genesis Prep Academy ended up a good deal behind Timberlake in their previous matchup back in January, losing 70-55. Can Genesis Prep Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
