Volleyball Game Preview: Cypress Bay Lightning vs. Cardinal Gibbons Chiefs

The Cypress Bay Lightning will head out to challenge the Cardinal Gibbons Chiefs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cypress Bay is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.

While Cypress Bay's victory against Coral Springs wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lightning won by a set and slipped past the Colts 3-2.

Cypress Bay wouldn't go down easily and took Coral Springs into a fifth set where they got it done with a six-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-18, 20-25, 22-25, 15-9.

Meanwhile, Cardinal Gibbons made easy work of West Boca Raton on Thursday and carried off a 3-0 win. The Chiefs have beaten the Bulls the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Bulls has come to flipping the script.

While Cardinal Gibbons might've won, it sure wasn't easy: West Boca Raton scored at least 20 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-23, 25-23.

Cypress Bay pushed their record up to 14-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Cardinal Gibbons, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.

Cypress Bay was able to grind out a solid victory over Cardinal Gibbons when the teams last played back in March of 2024, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lightning since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
