Baseball Recap: Chincoteague Gets the Win

Chincoteague won the last time they faced Wicomico and things went their way on Thursday too. The Ponies came out on top against the Indians by a score of 16-12. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Ponies.

Kent Reed made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Reed was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. That stolen base was his first of the season.

Reed wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brice Luck, who went 3-for-5 with six RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those runs marked the first that Luck scored this season. Another was George Katsetos, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.

Chincoteague kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wicomico only managed seven hits.

Chincoteague's record now sits at 3-1-1. As for Wicomico, their loss was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-7.

Looking ahead, Chincoteague is taking a road trip to take on Bennett at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wicomico, they will welcome Queen Anne's County at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
