Oconomowoc is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will venture away from home to take on the Arrowhead Warhawks at 4:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.
Oconomowoc had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Sun Prairie West on Monday. The Raccoons blew past the Wolves 15-8.
Chris Last looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Luke Schlosser, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Marek Bolson was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Arrowhead never let their opponents score on Saturday. They put the hurt on Eau Claire Memorial with a sharp 8-0 victory.
Tanner Buhlmann looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Yamato Takahashi was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Cam Carter, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Arrowhead pushed their record up to 2-1 with the win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Oconomowoc, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.
Both Oconomowoc and Arrowhead just can't seem to miss. The Raccoons have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. However, it's not like Arrowhead struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.7 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Oconomowoc suffered a grim 10-4 defeat to Arrowhead when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Raccoons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
