D2 District 4 (8 Man) recap Sept. 26, 2012
Alex Kunz of Stuart ran for the longest rushing play in D2 District 4 (8 Man) this season against Newcastle last week. Kunz ran for 59 yards on the play and finished with 136 on the day as his team defeated the Raiders.
Marcus Claussen and Trevor Wakeley provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Winside. The connection went for 75 yards, the longest such play in the league this season.
Wausa's dynamic duo of Claussen and Hunter Vanness proved tough for the Wildcats to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Claussen threw for 242 yards and four touchdowns and Vanness had 94 yards receiving. Wakeley helped Wausa's passing attack out by catching two balls for 83 yards.
Wausa's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Vikings feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Claussen has thrown for 755 yards and 12 touchdowns this season, while Wakeley has 12 catches for 244 yards. Claussen also leads the league in rushing with 504 yards.
Two of the top units in D2 District 4 (8 Man) will face off this week when the Vikings take on Newcastle. Wausa's offense has recorded 233 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Dave Nelson's team has permitted only 209 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Stuart takes on Wynot. Lance Howitt's team is in second place, while the Blue Devils are in third place.
Rusty Fuller's team extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Winside, 50-6. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
