Basketball Game Preview: Jones Fightin' Tigers vs. Evans Trojans

The Jones Fightin' Tigers will challenge the Evans Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Jones easily dispatched Lake Buena Vista last Monday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Jones fell just short of University by a score of 65-62 on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Fightin' Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 327th, while the Cougars are ranked 118th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Evans). They managed a 100-94 win over Oak Ridge on Monday. The victory was familiar territory for the Trojans who have now won four matchups in a row.

Evans pushed their record up to 16-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.5 points per game. As for Jones, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.

Jones didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Evans in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 57-53 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Evans' Arosco Dubois, who posted 21 points along with seven boards and four steals.
