Recap: West Florence Knights vs. North Myrtle Beach Chiefs
The West Florence Knights were the 35-30 winner over the North Myrtle Beach Chiefs when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. West Florence lost to North Myrtle Beach at home by a decisive 53-35 margin on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, West Florence can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 180th, while North Myrtle Beach is ranked 46th).
Despite the defeat, West Florence had strong showings from Kendrina Johnson, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and two blocks, and Gabrielle Gunter, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Faith Farmer was her usual excellent self, scoring 34 points for North Myrtle Beach. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Farmer has scored all season. Madison Vereen was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds and five assists.
This is the second loss in a row for West Florence and nudges their season record down to 2-10. As for North Myrtle Beach, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-5.
West Florence will face off against Wilson at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Wilson is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.1 points per game. As for North Myrtle Beach, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Hartsville at 6:00 p.m. Hartsville will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
