Basketball Recap: Carrboro Skates Past Durham School of the Arts with Ease

Carrboro won the last time they faced Durham School of the Arts and things went their way on Monday too. The Carrboro Jaguars blew past the Durham School of the Arts Bulldogs 74-35. The Jaguars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 25 points or more this season.

Carrboro's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Summer Lee led the charge by going 7-for-13 to rack up 18 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. Lee has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 13 times she's played. Yazmin Paisant was another key player, dropping a double-double with 16 points and 16 boards.

Carrboro was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Durham School of the Arts saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Faith Yon went 13-for-24 on her way to 30 points and five steals. That was a full 85.7% of Durham School of the Arts' points, marking the sixth time in a row Yon has posted more than a third of the team's points.

Carrboro is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.9 points over those games. Durham School of the Arts dropped their record down to 2-20 with the defeat, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Carrboro wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 62-29 win against South Granville on the 18th. Durham School of the Arts does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
