Football Recap: Notre Dame (SO) Comes Up Short at Home Against Downey + How To Watch

Notre Dame (SO) unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Downey Vikings by a score of 24-21 on Friday. If the Knights were looking for revenge after losing 42-21 to the Vikings when the teams met back in August of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Notre Dame (SO) still got an impressive performance from Wyatt Brown, who rushed for 75 yards and two scores.

Oscar Rios had an outrageously good game for Downey as he threw for 311 yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 133 yards on only 14 carries. That's the most rushing yards Rios has posted since back in September of 2024. A healthy portion of Rios' aerial production (121 yards to be exact) went to Jesus Rios.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Notre Dame (SO) is headed away from home for the first time to face off against Bishop Alemany at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Downey, they will square off against Orange Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
