Basketball Recap: Baylor Rank's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Blue Valley Southwest over Blue Valley West

Blue Valley Southwest lost against Blue Valley West back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Blue Valley Southwest Timberwolves fell to the Blue Valley West Jaguars 53-49. While losing is never fun, the Timberwolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while the Jaguars are ranked 18th).

Blue Valley Southwest's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Baylor Rank, who went 5-for-12 on his way to 17 points. Another player making a difference was Joshua Arterburn, who posted 13 points.

Blue Valley Southwest has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. The victory made it two in a row for Blue Valley West and bumps their season record up to 11-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blue Valley Southwest will take on Louisburg at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Blue Valley Southwest is facing Louisburg at the right time seeing as Louisburg is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Blue Valley West, they will square off against Bishop Miege at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Blue Valley West will also cruise into their next game with the timing on their side: Bishop Miege will have lost three straight heading into Monday's contest.
