Baseball Game Preview: River Forest Ingots vs. Griffith Panthers

River Forest is 1-8 against Griffith since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Ingots will square off against the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. River Forest is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

On Saturday, River Forest got the win against Gary West Side by a conclusive 17-1. The result was nothing new for the Ingots, who have now won three contests by 13 runs or more so far this season.

River Forest let Macario Ramirez and Josiah Artest run wild. Ramirez scored three runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-2, while Artest scored three runs and stole three bases while going 4-for-4. With that strong performance, Ramirez is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Manny Mendoza, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: River Forest kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 18 runs the game before, Griffith was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They came up short against La Porte, falling 10-0. The loss put an end to the Panthers' undefeated start to the season.

River Forest's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Griffith, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-1.

Everything went River Forest's way against Griffith in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as River Forest made off with an 11-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Ingots since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
