Softball Recap: Carson Cougars vs. Central Cabarrus Vikings
Carson had lost five straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 4-8 to make it six. They lost 12-0 to the Central Cabarrus Vikings. The Cougars were not able to make up for their defeat to the Vikings from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.
As for Central Cabarrus, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.
For Central Cabarrus' part, they got a massive performance out of Chloe Phillips, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four hits gave Phillips a new career-high. Kinley Hood was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carson will take on Concord at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spiders have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. As for Central Cabarrus, they will square off against Hickory Ridge at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
