Softball Recap: Hackley Takes Down Fieldston in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Hackley had no trouble coming through when it counted. They never let the Fieldston Eagles get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Monday. Considering the Hornets have won ten matchups by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Andrea Hegarty made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 18 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most triples she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Gabrielle Paes and Ellie Firsenbaum did most of the damage at the plate: Paes went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Firsenbaum got on base in three of her five plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs Firsenbaum has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Aria Servedio, who went 1-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Hackley, bringing their record up to 11-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Fieldston, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.

As of now, neither Hackley nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
