Football Game Preview: Colton Yellowjackets vs. Bellflower Buccaneers + Official Tickets

The Colton Yellowjackets are taking a road trip to challenge the Bellflower Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Colton has given up an average of 26.5 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Colton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 73-53 margin over Ganesha. Considering the Yellowjackets have won four contests by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Koa Regalado was his usual excellent self, throwing for 393 yards and nine TDs while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushing for 69 yards and one touchdown on only six carries. Those nine passing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Jonathan Quiroz was Regalado's top target, picking up 168 receiving yards and five scores.

Another reason for the win was Colton's imposing defensive line, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Ryan Vasquez, Derek Aparicio, and Kevin Hidalgo, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Meanwhile, Bellflower was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against Nogales by a score of 14-7 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The score was all tied up 7-7 at the break, but the Buccaneers were the (much) better team in the second half.

Bellflower is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 7.0 points on average over those games. As for Colton, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
