Softball Recap: Somers Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Somers lost to Ardsley back in April of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Tuskers put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 14-1 victory. The Tuskers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by seven runs or more this season.

Caitlin Fitts was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Katie Cole, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.

Somers was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The win was the fourth in a row for Somers, bringing their record up to 14-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Ardsley, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-4.

Somers and Ardsley should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. The Tuskers (ranked 16th) will meet Brewster (ranked 256th) at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Ardsley will face off against Edgemont at 4:30 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (96 vs. 395).
