Basketball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Dutchtown's Fifth in Last Six Outings

If Northgate wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Dutchtown, they should've done a better job of containing Kylah Hall. The Dutchtown Bulldogs put the hurt on the Northgate Vikings with a sharp 48-25 victory on Thursday thanks in part to Hall, who posted 12 points in addition to five boards and three steals. She has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played.

Another player making a difference was Laylah Simpson, who earned eight points along with six steals and five rebounds. She has become a key player for Dutchtown: the team is 8-3 when she posts at least three steals, but 6-7 otherwise.

When it comes to explaining why Northgate lost, don't look at Deasia Stinson. Despite the final result, she scored 17 points in addition to seven boards and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Amari Evans, who put up two points and 12 rebounds.

Dutchtown has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points over those games. As for Northgate, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-12.

Dutchtown wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 49-48 loss against Banneker on the 7th. As for Northgate, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-25 defeat against Morrow on the 7th.
