Baseball Game Preview: Highlands Golden Rams vs. Freeport Yellowjackets

The Highlands Golden Rams will head out to take on the Freeport Yellowjackets at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Highlands will be strutting in after a win while Freeport will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Highlands turned things around against Apollo Ridge on Wednesday. They never let the Vikings get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory.

Not much got past Trent Durci, who gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Apollo Ridge off the board.

On the hitting side, Jake King was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Freeport unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of Burrell by a score of 5-4.

Freeport's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Highlands, their win bumped their record up to 7-11.

Highlands came up short against Freeport in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 16-11. Can the Golden Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
