Baseball Game Preview: Clermont Northeastern Rockets vs. Blanchester Wildcats

Clermont Northeastern hasn't had much luck against Blanchester recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Rockets are taking a road trip to face off against the Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Clermont Northeastern took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Bethel-Tate, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Rockets had just enough and edged out the Tigers 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rockets have posted since April 29, 2024.

Grant Carlier was excellent, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brady Schmidt, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Blanchester duked it out with Bethel-Tate on Tuesday. The Wildcats never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 3-0 win.

Sammy Roush made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Roush was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cole Mueller, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Clermont Northeastern now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Blanchester, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Clermont Northeastern suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Blanchester in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Rockets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
