Volleyball Recap: Upper Lake Takes a Loss + How To Watch

If Upper Lake was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Lower Lake last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cougars fell 3-1 to the Middletown Mustangs on Tuesday. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Upper Lake started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 12-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-21.

Alyssa John paced Upper Lake's offense, picking up 18 kills. John got some help from Camila Martin and her 27 assists. Finally, Aimee Schaefers kept Upper Lake's defense grounded, leading the team with ten blocks.

Upper Lake's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Middletown, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-22 record this season.

Upper Lake wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against St. Helena on the 23rd. As for Middletown, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 loss against Clear Lake on the 23rd.
