Basketball Recap: Jax Gaddy's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Central Carolina Academy over Cornerstone Charter

Central Carolina Academy lost against Cornerstone Charter back in November and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Eagles received a blow as they fell 52-34 to the Cardinals.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jax Gaddy, who posted 17 points. With that strong performance, Gaddy is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Another player making a difference was Carter Mashburn, who had nine points.

Cornerstone Charter got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lake Bristol out in front who shot 67% from the field en route to 20 points and three steals. Bristol is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Shaffrey, who scored six points along with 14 boards and six steals.

Central Carolina Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Cornerstone Charter, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

Central Carolina Academy will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on River Mill at 7:30 p.m. on the 12th. As for Cornerstone Charter, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Chatham Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cardinals' defense better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 55.5 points per game this season.
