Baseball Recap: Basalt Comes Up Short

Basalt had lost six straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 9-11 to make it seven. They came up short against the Resurrection Christian Cougars, falling 7-1. If the Longhorns were looking for revenge after losing 16-9 to the Cougars when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Basalt saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hagan Hamlet, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

As for Resurrection Christian, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 14-8. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

On Resurrection Christian's side, Vincent Fuller was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI Fuller has posted since back in May of 2024.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Basalt will face off against Eaton at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Reds' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Longhorns' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Resurrection Christian, they will square off against Forge Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Fury have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season.
