Basketball Game Preview: Groveton Indians vs. Grapeland Sandies

Groveton hasn't had much luck against Grapeland recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Groveton Indians are taking a road trip to challenge the Grapeland Sandies at 7:30 p.m.

Groveton is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game on Tuesday. The match between them and Normangee didn't end well, with Groveton falling 70-53. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1526th, while the Panthers are ranked 512th).

Meanwhile, Grapeland had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.1 points) and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 61-52.

Grapeland pushed their record up to 15-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points per game. As for Groveton, their loss dropped their record down to 6-15.

Groveton was taken down by Grapeland 74-13 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can Groveton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
