Softball Game Preview: Liberty Eagles vs. Mansfield Lions

The Liberty Eagles will challenge the Mansfield Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Liberty has given up an average of 14.9 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Liberty's offense. They came up short against Thayer on Thursday, falling 15-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Bobcats: they've now lost six in a row.

Meanwhile, Mansfield got the win against Gainesville on Monday by a conclusive 14-4. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.

The victory made it two in a row for Mansfield and bumps their season record up to 7-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Liberty, their loss dropped their record down to 3-14.

Liberty suffered a grim 17-4 defeat to Mansfield in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
