Volleyball Recap: Fletcher Takes a Loss

Fletcher entered their contest against Wolfson on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Senators took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wolfpack. The Senators were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolfpack apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2023.

Fletcher started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-23, 25-18, 28-26.

When it comes to explaining why Fletcher lost, don't look at Ashton Kirton. Despite the final result, she had 18 digs and three aces. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlee Troester, who had 13 digs and two aces.

Wolfson was led to victory by Carter Rowell and Monica Mina. Rowell had 13 digs and one block, while Mina had 20 digs and four assists. Rowell is also crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 24 every time she's taken the court this season.

Fletcher's loss dropped their record down to 22-3. As for Wolfson, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-1.

Fletcher and Wolfson should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. The Senators will face off against First Coast at 6:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (72 vs. 506). Meanwhile, Wolfson (ranked 98th) will meet Bradford (ranked 282nd) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
