Basketball Game Preview: Montabella Mustangs vs. Carson City-Crystal Eagles

Montabella and Carson City-Crystal are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2020, but not for long. The Montabella Mustangs will host the Carson City-Crystal Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Wednesday, Montabella came up short against Coleman and fell 56-47. The match marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Carson City-Crystal was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 51-44 to Breckenridge. One positive for the Eagles, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Montabella will have to contain Cole Smith as he made an impact in Carson City-Crystal's last game. He went 7 of 12 on his way to 19 points. That was a full 43.2% of Carson City-Crystal's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaah Kirvan, who had six points and five rebounds.

Montabella's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Carson City-Crystal, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
