Basketball Game Preview: Tom Bean Tomcats vs. Sam Rayburn Rebels

The Tom Bean Tomcats will take on the Sam Rayburn Rebels at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Tom Bean will be strutting in after a win while Sam Rayburn will be coming in after a loss.

Tom Bean is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past Honey Grove to the tune of 71-40 on Friday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Tomcats with their most commanding win of the season.

Meanwhile, Sam Rayburn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a hard 66-52 fall against Whitewright. While losing is never fun, the Rebels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1546th, while the Tigers are ranked 515th).

The victory made it two in a row for Tom Bean and bumps their season record up to 3-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points over those games. As for Sam Rayburn, their loss dropped their record down to 4-15.

Tom Bean couldn't quite get it done against Sam Rayburn when the teams last played back in January of 2025 as they fell 53-43. Can the Tomcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
