Baseball Recap: Cabrillo's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak at Home

There's no place like home for Cabrillo, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Lompoc Braves with a sharp 10-0 win on Friday. With that victory, the Conquistadores brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Thomas Kiesling was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Cabrillo is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-7 otherwise. Kiesling was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Blake Gregory was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Cabrillo's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-7 when he doesn't). Gabe Barraza was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

Cabrillo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lompoc only managed three hits.

Cabrillo's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-7. As for Lompoc, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.

Looking ahead, Cabrillo will square off against St. Francis at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last five games the Sharks have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Lompoc, they will face off against Nipomo at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. The Braves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
