Basketball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Vernon's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

If Iowa Park wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Vernon, they should've done a better job of containing Key'Maria Mcbride. The Vernon Lions took down the Iowa Park Hawks 58-39 on Friday thanks in part to Mcbride, who went 7 for 13 on her way to 16 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played.

Vernon has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.5 points per game. As for Iowa Park, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-14.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Vernon Lions face off against the Jacksboro Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Vernon is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games. As for Iowa Park, they will square off against Henrietta at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
