Softball Recap: Tracy Beats Calaveras for Their 12th Straight Victory

Tracy extended their winning streak to 12 on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 19-2 in the process. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Calaveras Red Hawks. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won 13 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Hayden Fell made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one triple and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, Emalee Cargill was excellent, going 1-for-3 with four stolen bases and two runs. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Taylor Munoz, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI.

As for Calaveras, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, their shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

On Calaveras' side, Kamryn Thornburg spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered seven earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 11 Ks. Thornburg has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Calaveras saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Clark, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Tracy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 4-2 victory against Central Catholic on the 24th. As for Calaveras, they have also already played their next contest, a 21-3 win against Central Valley on the 24th.
