West Central took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They took down the Winamac Warriors 24-8. This was payback for the Trojans, who suffered a 24-16 defeat the last time these two teams met.

West Central's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Connor Huber, who rushed for 183 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 11.4 yards per carry. Huber really tore up the turf during one magnificent 84-yard run. Another rusher making a difference was Drea Villarreal, who rushed for 85 yards and one score on only 12 carries.

Another reason for the win was West Central's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Ezra Rodriguez refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Central will welcome Culver Community at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Winamac, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Frontier at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
