Basketball Recap: Yam'bya Ndaw's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Newark Central over West Caldwell Tech

While it was all tied up 19-19 at halftime, Newark Central was not quite West Caldwell Tech's equal in the second half on Saturday. They took a 52-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Caldwell Tech Eagles. The loss leaves the Blue Devils without a win on the season.

Newark Central's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Yam'Bya Ndaw, who posted four points along with 11 boards and six blocks. Ndaw is crushing it when it comes to blocks: he's posted at least three every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Malachi Thomas, who went 6 of 15 en route to 13 points and seven rebounds.

Newark Central's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for West Caldwell Tech, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Newark Central will take on East Side at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Newark Central is facing East Side at the right time seeing as East Side is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for West Caldwell Tech, they will challenge Barringer at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
