Soccer Game Preview: Union vs. Sapulpa

Union has gone a perfect 5-0 against Sapulpa recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Redhawks will be playing at home against the Chieftains at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Union has 11 straight wins, Sapulpa has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

While Union's victory against Ponca City wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Redhawks skirted past the Wildcats 3-2. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Union's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma soccer rankings (they are ranked first, while Ponca City are ranked 39th).

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Sapulpa's offense. They came up short against Jenks on Friday, falling 4-0.

Union pushed their record up to 13-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 13 goals over those four matches. As for Sapulpa, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.

Union was able to grind out a solid win over Sapulpa in their previous meeting back in April of 2019, winning 2-0. Will the Redhawks repeat their success, or do the Chieftains have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
