Softball Recap: Lamar Gets the Win

Lamar won the last time they faced Liberal and things went their way on Friday too. The Tigers came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 5-1.

Lexy Stephen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Emma Potter, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Maylee Rawlings, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Lamar's victory bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Liberal, the defeat was their first at home, dropping their record down to 3-3-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Lamar will venture away from home to take on New Heights Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Liberal, they will head out to square off against Rich Hill at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
