Nobody could stop Brack Spangler on Friday as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. As if that's not impressive enough, the pitching appearance was his fifth in a row with five or more strikeouts. On the year, he has been strong no matter where he plays. On the mound, he has an ERA of 1.50 over 37.1 innings pitched. Meanwhile, at bat he has slashed 0.429/0.515/0.679 with 23 RBI, plus 13 stolen bases.

Even though Spangler couldn't lead Flint River Academy over Vidalia Heritage Academy, he won't have to wait long to try again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats haven't beaten the Eagles recently, having gone 0-3 since May of 2022.
