Basketball Recap: Hopewell Starts Season with Loss at Home

Hopewell unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were dealt a 47-14 defeat at the hands of the East Mecklenburg Eagles on Tuesday. The Titans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-6.

Kennidy Farley was Hopewell's leading scorer, having posted eight points. Farley also led the team in rebounds with seven.

Alana Jones went supernova For East Mecklenburg., almost dropping a double-double with 16 points and nine boards. Jurnee Darling was another key player, putting up eight points.

East Mecklenburg has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Looking ahead, Hopewell will look to defend their home court on Friday against Weddington at 6:00 p.m. As for East Mecklenburg, they will head out on the road to square off against South Mecklenburg at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
