Basketball Recap: Village Tech Falls Short of Chisum in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Village Tech can now relate to. They fell just short of the Chisum Mustangs by a score of 49-47 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Viper Squid have suffered since January 17th.

Village Tech's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bryson Gaines, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Jacori Cathey was another key player, putting up 17 points.

Village Tech's loss dropped their record down to 25-7. As for Chisum, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-15.

Village Tech does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Chisum, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 78-45 defeat against Chapel Hill on the 24th.
