Football Recap: Florence Piles Up the Points Against Safford

While Florence put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Safford. The Gophers blew past the Bulldogs, posting a 36-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Gophers in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won three in a row.

Brody Ramirez was the offensive standout of the matchup as he threw for 113 yards and two TDs on only nine passes, and also punched in one rushing score.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Florence's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Kaidin Valle, Sebastian Renteria, and Henry Lamb, who each picked up one sack apiece. Zayden Cundiff was another major factor on D, making 15 total tackles (3.0 for loss) and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception.

Florence now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Safford, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.
