Basketball Recap: Sawyer Tacker's Big Game Can't Quite Lead West over Scurry-Rosser

It was a good run, but West unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. Their2024 ended with a 53-37 loss against the Scurry-Rosser Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 673rd, while the Wildcats are ranked 148th).

Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sawyer Tacker, who posted nine points and six rebounds. Tacker continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ayden Poteet, who earned six points and seven rebounds.

West's defeat dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Scurry-Rosser, the win keeps them at an undefeated 16-0.

West wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 61-44 loss against Keene on the 28th. As for Scurry-Rosser, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-29 victory against Whitney on the 28th.
