Preview: Brookesmith Mustangs vs. Rochelle Hornets
Brookesmith and Rochelle are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2015, but not for long. The Brookesmith Mustangs will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Rochelle Hornets at 5:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Brookesmith's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Rochelle has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
In what's become a running theme this season, Brookesmith gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They breezed by Lohn at home to the tune of 86-22. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-4.
It was another big night for Trey Toft, who scored 24 points. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jase Moreno, who scored 17 points.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 69-22, which was the final score in Rochelle's tilt against Richland Springs on Friday. Rochelle has not had much luck with Richland Springs recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Brookesmith is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season. As for Rochelle, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season.
Brookesmith was able to grind out a solid victory over Rochelle when the teams last played back in January, winning 46-37. Does Brookesmith have another victory up their sleeve, or will Rochelle turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
