Recap: Greenwood Mennonite Flames vs. Tri-State Christian Crusaders

The Greenwood Mennonite Flames entered their tilt with the Tri-State Christian Crusaders with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Greenwood Mennonite snuck past Tri-State Christian with a 39-35 victory on Tuesday. Given Greenwood Mennonite's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 24th in Delaware, while Tri-State Christian is ranked 182nd in Maryland), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Greenwood Mennonite's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Faith Troyer, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. Troyer has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 15 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carli Welfley, who scored ten points along with five assists and five steals.

Greenwood Mennonite's victory was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-2. As for Tri-State Christian, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Greenwood Mennonite will take on Fairwinds Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Fairwinds Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 on Monday. As for Tri-State Christian, they will play host again and welcome Avon Grove Charter, where tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Avon Grove Charter's defense has only allowed 29.5 points per game this season, so Tri-State Christian's offense will have their work cut out for them.
