Baseball Recap: Heritage's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Nine

Heritage had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Thursday. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the Woodgrove Wolverines. This was a revenge game for the Pride: when they faced off against the Wolverines back in May, they had to take a 7-5 defeat.

Aaron Van Tuyle was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Heritage: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 10-11 otherwise.

Van Tuyle wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Miskelly, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

Heritage's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-11. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Woodgrove, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-3.

As of now, neither Heritage nor the Wolverines have any future games scheduled.
