Volleyball Recap: Washington Bluejays vs. Sullivan Eagles
It was a Battle of the Birds when Washington duked it out with Sullivan on Monday. The Bluejays took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. The Bluejays were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 2-1.
The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Sullivan scored at least 18 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-23, 23-25, 25-18.
Brooke Stellhorn paced Washington's offense, picking up 17 kills. Stellhorn got some help from Alyson Paule and her 33 assists. Mya Buhr controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Andi Giebler had an outrageously good game for Sullivan as she had 21 digs and one assist. That's the most digs Giebler has posted over her last 12 contests.
Washington's defeat dropped their record down to 18-11-1. As for Sullivan, their win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-9-4.
Washington wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-2 loss against Fort Zumwalt North on the 14th. As for Sullivan, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Owensville on the 14th.
