Basketball Recap: Laconia Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Derryfield

On Friday, Laconia faced Derryfield in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Laconia Sachems fell just short of the Derryfield Cougars by a score of 33-31. The loss put an end to the Sachems' undefeated start to the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Laconia fell to 12-1. As for Derryfield, they pushed their record up to 13-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Laconia will take on Hanover at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Derryfield, they will square off against Lebanon at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
