Softball Game Preview: Anchor Bay Tars vs. Chippewa Valley Big Reds

The Anchor Bay Tars will square off against the Chippewa Valley Big Reds at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Anchor Bay hadn't beaten Romeo on the road since May 25, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them on Thursday. The Tars narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Bulldogs 4-3.

Meanwhile, Chippewa Valley waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 9-6 victory over the Norsemen. With that win, the Big Reds brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Chippewa Valley got a big performance out of Sam Mondalek, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Mondalek a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sammie Nowicki, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Chippewa Valley's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 8-7. As for Anchor Bay, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.
