Basketball Game Preview: Hiawatha Hawks vs. Alden-Hebron Green Giants

The Hiawatha Hawks will challenge the Alden-Hebron Green Giants at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Hiawatha came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They were outmatched by Newark and fell 79-49. The Hawks were down 61-38 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Meanwhile, Alden-Hebron was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 57-51 heartbreaker at the hands of LaMoille. That's two games in a row now that the Green Giants have lost by exactly six points.

Hiawatha has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-16 record this season. As for Alden-Hebron, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-24.

Everything went Hiawatha's way against Alden-Hebron when the teams last played back in January, as Hiawatha made off with a 57-37 win. Does Hiawatha have another victory up their sleeve, or will Alden-Hebron turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
