Recap: Walker Wolverines vs. Drew Charter
The Walker Wolverines waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They walked away with a 68-58 victory over Drew Charter. Given Walker's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while Drew Charter is ranked 324th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Walker to victory were Noah Pederson and Moustapha Diop. Pederson scored 26 points along with six rebounds, while Diop dropped a double-double on 28 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Diop has scored at least a third of Walker's points. Another player making a difference was Anderson Carey, who scored nine points along with six assists.
Walker pushed their record up to 16-7 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.9 points per game. As for Drew Charter, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Walker will take on Mount Paran Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mount Paran Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Walker likes a good challenge. As for Drew Charter, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Washington at 4:30 p.m. on January 27th. Washington is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
